QNET Mail Guard Guide
QNET Mail Guard is a new system being used by QNET
to reduce spam and stop email-based viruses. QNET Mail Guard
will screen and filter every incoming message bound
for your email inbox. This means before you even check your
email, QNET Mail Guard has scanned your email for viruses,
worms, and spam, and has removed or quarantined them. |

|
|
Step 1 - Login
|
To get started with QNET Mail Guard you
will first have to login:
|
|
|
To login, please check your email, and look
for the message titled "User Quarantine Account Information".
Inside this message is your QNET Mail Guard username and temporary password. If you
have forgotten your password, enter your email address in
the "Username:" field and press the "Create
New Password" button. A new temporary password will be emailed
to you. The password used to access QNET Mail Guard
is not the same as your login and email password. The password is case
sensitive. You may also access the QNET Mail Guard login page at
http://mailguard.qnet.com/
|
|
Step 2 - Delete, Deliver,
or Whitelist
|
|
Once logged in, you will see a screen that
says Quarantine Inbox. While looking at your Quarantine
Inbox, there are three possible actions for each message.
Delete, Deliver, or Whitelist:
|
|
|
Deliver
Selecting this action will deliver the suspect email to
your inbox. Only choose to deliver if you are sure you
want to keep the message. The next time you check your
email, you will download any messages you chose to Deliver.
Whitelist
Selecting this action will whitelist the person who sent
the message and deliver their emails to your inbox. This
means that the person that you whitelist will always be
able to send you messages. Their emails will never be
put in the Quarantine Inbox again unless you choose to
remove them from your whitelist.
Delete
This deletes the messages from your Quarantine Inbox,
and you will never download it.
Selecting Multiple Messages
If you would like to perform an action on more than one
message, you you can use the check boxes on the far left
side to select multiple messages. Once you have the suspect
emails you want to take action on checked, select from
the buttons on top to either Deliver, Whitelist, or Delete.
|
|
Step 3 - Changing Options
|
|
Click on the button labeled Preferences:
|
|
|
Quarantine Enable/Disable
Here you can disable or enable the Spam Quarantine. By
default, this option will be enabled. Disable it if you
no longer wish to Quarantine suspect emails. If you disable
the quarantine, suspect messages will be labeled with
"[QUAR]" in the message subject. Press Save
Changes when you are finished.
Spam Filter Enable/Disable
Here you can disable or enable the Spam Filter on your
email account. By default, the spam filter will be enabled.
If you do disable the spam filter, there will be no spam filtering
of your email. Your email is always filtered for viruses, regardless of this setting.
Whitelist/Blacklist
Here you can review, add, or remove people from your whitelist
and blacklist. To add an internet domain or an email address to a list,
type in the domain or email address and press add. To
remove a domain or an email address click on the small
trash can ( ) icon. For more information on Whitelisting
and Blacklisting please read below:
Whitelist
A whitelist is a list of trusted contacts and internet domains (examples: 'coupons@walmart.com', 'ebay.com').
The email addresses and domains you put in this list
will not be filtered by QNET's Mail Guard system. Instead
they will go directly to your inbox. Make sure you
only add trusted contacts to your whitelist.
Blacklist
A blacklist is a list of email addresses and internet domains
that will constantly be blocked by QNET Mail Guard (examples: 'coupons@walmart.com', 'hotmail.com').
If you put any addresses or domains in this list, you
will not receive any emails from them again until
you remove their address or domain from the blacklist.
|
Quarantine Notification
Here you can change how often you receive a notification
email that provides you a list of new emails that have been added to your Quarantine
Inbox. You can select, Daily, Weekly, or Never. When you are finished, be sure to Save Changes.
Security
Here you can change your personal password used to login into QNET Mail Guard.
Note: The password used to log into QNET Mail Guard
is not the same as your login or email password. Changing your password here will only change your QNET Mail Guard password. Your other passwords will not be changed.
